(Associated Hump) Syracuse, NY -
While Andy Rautins sat on the Syracuse bench laughing with Wes Johnson a young girl in Cicero was impressing her male friends with putting her fist inside her mouth. What does this have to do with SU Basketball? Nothing. The Orange were in high gear again at the Dome and gave a fisting lesson to the Maine Black Bears this past Saturday night.
Howard Triche descent, Brandon Triche had 16 points to lead five players in double figures for the Orange (8-0), who overwhelmed the Black Bears (3-4) in the first half by deciding not to miss much. Syracuse took a 60-12 halftime and lead as the Black Bears made only four baskets in the opening period. They made only four baskets, as in , four baskets.
Arinze Onuaku and Kris Joseph each had 14 points, Mookie Jones had 12 and Scoop Jardine had 10 points. Wes Johnson, averaging a team-leading 18.4 points, had a season-low seven points but felt bad for Maine and decided to play them in beginner mode. Andy Rautins finished with eight points and nine assists in 18 minutes without a Faux hawk.
According to Rautins,
Our chemistry is great out there. Every guy is going out there and put their heart out for one another. That's what's going to keep winning games It's so much fun playing with these guys because they know where to be at all times.
We're just going to keep getting better. We still have a lot to work on, like making sure my hawk is suitable for the different types of humidity when we start traveling away from the Dome.
